NEW YEAR, NEW YOU?

Life is speeding up.

Someone pressed the fast forward button and I don't know how to stop it.

The thought of a New Year soon approaching is making me restless and unsteady. It's making me both excited and absolutely terrified.

I'm starting to feel older.

Wiser, yes. But also desperately nostalgic and sad about all the precious moments I'll never be able to get back.

So much can change in just a year...

Think of where you were last year; mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually. Think of where you were in work, in life and in love.

Could you ever have anticipated the present? Last year, could you have guessed where you would be now? WHO you would be now?

That lack of knowledge; "the great unknown" is something frightening and enlightening. It is both a blessing and a curse.

It is what chains us, and what liberates us.

It is the reason we celebrate the year that was, and the reason we find hope for the future.

It is why we shake off past hurts, hurdles and heartbreaks and replace them with expectations of extraordinary stroylines and picture perfect lifestyles.

"The great unknown". Isn't that why we start fresh every New Years?

Isn't that why we allow ourselves to believe that the beginning of a New Year is a metaphor for something much greater?

A new YOU?

As if the single tick of a clock is capable of untangling the gigantic mess we have weaved ourselves into? The sticky web we have subconsciously spun around our lives. The vehicle of chaos we have been mindlessly driving on cruise control.

We all seem so excited to be able to "start over". As if we have never been presented with such opportunity before.

As if changing the number we scribble on papers and calendars somehow radically shifts something internally within us.

But in reality, this concept is beautifully immature.

You see, you don't need a New Year to make changes. The reality is that you are a human capable of redirecting and altering your life, emotions and actions at any moment. Each second is an opportunity for change. A portal to progress.

A New Year isn't a magic trick.

That magic is something you create all on your own...

That hope is sitting like a dormant volcano, waiting to be manifested and created at any second.

Waiting for you to realise that all you need to start fresh, is the belief within yourself that you can do so.

Love,
